Social Responsibility
Laser Logistics fully subscribes to and practices broad-based empowerment, with employment equity submissions having been made annually since 2002 and the Group having exceeded its commitments in terms of its five year employment equity plan.
Laser Logistics’ division is BEE Level 3 certified, with a 77% rating.
Of the 2 300 permanent employees in the Group, 81% are Black, Coloured or Indian (BCI), with the same applying to 41% of the 146 people employed at a management level. In the last financial year, the Group spent 20% of the revenue on salaries and wages to Black employees.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The Group is committed to good corporate citizenship, and is entrenching a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) culture of social upliftment that produces meaningful change at community level while inspiring a culture of social responsibility and awareness amongst employees.
Through various national fundraising activities and specifically allocated CSR spend, Laser Logistics has supported numerous worthy initiatives and focuses its strategy in three key areas:
Youth
Focusing on the upliftment of children in need through the support of education projects, natural disaster relief, health-related projects and sport development, with a special focus on soccer development within communities.
Environment
Being in a predominantly transport-related business, Laser Logistics is aware of its impact on the environment through emissions and is committed to reducing it wherever possible through:
- Internal educational workshops with the aim to reducing our carbon footprint
- Encouraging our clients to participate in achieving our objectives
- Supporting environmental education projects for children.
Employees are encouraged to participate as groups and individuals in socially responsible initiatives.
